Doors

(1/1)

Hi all,

What's the best way to 'soundproof' doors?

I have oak doors, and they are quite thick, but they do let quite a bit of sound through.  Think it's cuz they don't fit snug.  I think you can buy rubber strips to pad doors out.

Are there any other ways/options?  I know you can buy sound proof doors, but they look a bit naff.  It still has to look homely, as much as possible.

Would screwing two doors together be any use?

My doorway is quite thick, so I could possibly have two swinging doors, and put insulation on the one door (inbetween).

What have you done with your live-room door?

Thanks,

Gaz

stainless:
I bought 2" solid core doors (heavy bastards!) and used weather strippingh foam/gasketting for the door stops....

and then I placed 2" RFG panels on the "in" side

I've seen some studios with double dual-pane sliding doors (kinda like an air-lock)... that wasn't an option for me

so I live with a bit of bleed
