« on: January 16, 2012, 02:12:08 PM »
I've been using the stereowide plugin in wavelab like forever but it wont work for me anymore
does anyone know of a decent free or near free stereowide plugin or an expander that will get me somewhere near the wavelab one
or has anyone got any suggestion for good plugins for mastering

Ozone is nice- if you're on a Mac peak (not sure if there's a Windows version)

but they both cost a few bucks

the inttial presets (and there are quite a few) are a good place to start.  When you have some time, start with a mix you're very familiar with. Strip off whatever "mastering" you did and start applying the various presets. When you find the ones you like 'more' then experiment withing themas the settings- get a tweak you like, save the preset by whatever name you'd like so you can up later.

i have saved presets for various arrangements of instruments and vocals (male, female, male harmonies, male vox, female harmonys... etc)

thanks for that man i'm already loving the cd exciter and widening master preset
printed off the tips manual (64 pages) this will make good lunchtime reading
overall its probably more than i need.
It's about time i got a little more serious about my mastering processes anyway.
great plugin

it's pretty versatile.  I use it for a fast "mastering" on progress mixes. For final mastering I sometimes use it, but often will my UAD-2 plug-ins , IK's CSR, and I like the Nugen EQ-1 and EQ-2

but Ozone does a really fine job. I looked at getting the newest version but I can't see that it offers any more bells and whistles than I already have

ultimately- use your ears!

this plugin is spot on.
i'm that excited i might have to remaster everything i've done so far
it's very powerful and im only half way through the tips manual
it's easy to overdo it to. I should put my listening ears on and keep the reverb to a minimum i think
thanks stainless

Hi there, are you certain that your source is stereo, if it is mono there will be no effect.
Also go easy on them as it can make stereo images almost out of phase by over widening.

cheers
