Hi RazorLand Studio, and welcome to HRS forum.

I tried to look at your pictures but facebook won't allow it. I suppose it's because I have not been friended. Your security settings must be too high for strangers to view your pictures.

You can upload pictures here if you want. If they are too huge you may need to reduce them first using some sort of paint or photo editing program.

Oh well, welcome aboard anyway. We are sort of like a happy family here who welcomes new members. We don't have a bunch of nasty members and it has not been ruined by advertising and spammers.

Enjoy.
Hey folks! Sell your gear here. It's Free. http://www.proaux.com or http://www.freeaux.com

Thank you Stainless, it has definately been a labor of love and is slowly starting to come together. Replacing the old console soon with a 32x8 Mackie and replacing the mBox with a pair of 002's. Should make a big difference in the end results..providing the artists perform their pieces properly   LOL As I am sure you know all too well.

are you getting the meter bridge with the Mackie?  it's a nice board... in some ways I wish i hadn't traded mine off for a Control 24.... then to Euphonix... and now I've gone 'back to the box.  As I have built up a nice group of outboard gear, I find the inconvenience of using the mouse to ajust track levels and panning a nice trade off over a large board.... and my main nit of never being able to truly bypass the built-in pre's on the mixers is solved.

The Control 24 was big, looked impressive, but I found I only used a hand full of the features

actually it was with the Euphonix (MC Mix and Control),that I found the mouse essentially faster for plug-ins and the Euphonix ended up being in the way.  The novelty of the faders moving to the automation didn't last all that long...

but ultimately, it's what makes the work flow the smoothest that interests me the most, and everyone has their own prefs.

If I could come across a mixer that was only level, pan, signal routing, and maybe a 4 band EQ, that would be great (no pre's), but even then would it eventually be used as much, the automation writing capabilities  (requiring a mouse) are so much smoother than slider/knob movements, and it's simple to patch in a send output to some gear and then back in

the goal is to keep it fun!

Yes I will be getting the meter bridge. I have been looking at control surfaces, but in my situation here I do both live and recording in my space. With the Mackie and the 002's it will be much easier for me to record live rehearsals.  Been looking at some of the small 8 channel fader control surfaces just for mixing, but so far havent really had a problem using the mouse to handle those chores, I know it takes a little longer, but I do a lot of live sound here too, so keeping the best of both worlds seems to be the logical choice at this point, of course would LOVE to have a Control 24, I would run all the live sound through Pro Tools then.......guess I could do that with the 002's though.

I also record live rehearsals and sessions which are mainly "live'  - prefer to always re-track the vocals because of the drum bleed- I got the RME FW 800 in January and it solved the issue of independent headphone mixes, plus more I/O's than I could ever pack folks into my rooms. I was going to stay with PT (I started with an 001, then to an 002) but switched to Digital Performer, and overall I'm quite happy with it, though I do miss a couple of my RTAS plugs... and someday i may opt for PT 9 upgrade as I gave the 002 (and old PowerMac) to my bass player.

Unless you can get a deal on a C|24, I'd say save the money and buy some high end pre's. The pre's on the 24 are  (IMHO) only slightly better than the 002's and as long as you stay with the 002's you'll be limited to 4 each, non-pre'd/gain circuit channels of input.

and the C|24 IS NOT an analog board, doesn't route signals at all like the Mackie will (that was a bit of a disappointment for me, but shame shame for not doing my homework... more excited with my tax return money burning a hole in my pocket.... ::)  ). Many called it a $10K mouse and perhaps for good reason. Still I liked it while i had it, but have no regrets that I moved away from it

I truly wish the DAW folks would produce gear with truly by-passable inputs around their pres... even though it'd take some of wind out of the marketing claims

Thanks for the info on the C24 and the routing issues, pretty much sealed my decision on the Mackie then.  My plan is to run direct out of the 8 subgroups on the mackie into each of the 4 quarter inch ins on the 002's and also have all 8 of the XLR sends used also and just switch between the inputs as needed on the front of the 002's. The outputs will also be a huge help being able to build individual headphone mixes as well as route signal to different sets of monitors and also send a feed into the the live room for playback.  Of course this decision is also being made for budget reasons too...a good fiend is donating the 002's to the studio and I have gotten a smoking deal on the Mackie.....so ...........ill live with any of the pitfalls associated with it  LOL  And I can always get a few good mic pres to put inline to the 002's to warm that up.
