I just got back from an east-coast Hurricane party.

Imagine this...

Pennsylvania...
Saturday night...
August 2011...
Hurricane Irene is due to arrive around midnight and bring heavy rain and strong winds throughout the night.

I just got home. There were tons of young party animals eager for any excuse to throw a party. We were ringing in the arrival of the hurricane as if it were new years eve or something. (We are riding this out on high ground so we should be fine.) The big screen TV had up-to-the-minute radar maps and news clips of prior path damage and flooding. The kitchen table was filled with fattening party foods and liquor bottles. The fridge was filled with brewski and all drapes were wide open for quick reference.

Every time someone opened the front door, the wind would blow in causing everyone to shout, "Shut the door!!!" Many of us hung out on the front porch to watch the sideways rain.

It was rather exciting. We should do this every year.

No real damage yet. I had better get some sleep before the power goes out. (I may not be able to reply back for a day or two.) Good night.
