I've never heard anything from Alice, but their product line looks intriguing

do let us know how it works out, especially compared to what you've been using

Yeah, I never heard of it either. Is it sold only locally where you are?

do you know i'm not really sure if it is only sold locally. I know it's a british product and according to the web site they specialise in broadcast equipment. I will let you know how i get on stainless. If i get chance later on tonight i will do and A/B test and post an mp3. so you guys can hear for yourselves and comment.
According to the gumph (ad info) it's intended more as a line driver for long cable lengths.

Ok guys here you go my A/B test first up is the new alice preamp then the Behringer ultra gain mic2200
you can hear the noise kick in at around 25 seconds when it swaps to the behringer. not sure if its a bad connection the behringer is normally quite but in this test the alice seems more transparant and clean to my ears
let me know what you think guys please.

I imported the file into a session and stuck an analyzer on it (Nugen's Visualizer)

the Alice seems to have a little less mid gain (aka mud) - compared to the Behringer... both have some definite floor noise but the Behringer is must more audible and to a higher LF  ( about 75 Hz there's a constant level, whereas the Alice has a lower lever and starts to show response at ~ 40-45 Hz

at the high end, the Alice has a stronger  HF response from ~ 1.8 kHz to ~ 4 kHz... bot seem about the same > than 4 kHz

so I'd say based on a single clip- the Alice does have the edge!   ;D
