rewire solution
« on: January 13, 2011, 03:59:10 PM »
heres the thing initially i had one sound card m audio  24/96 audiophile and just a mixer
then i got a second card m audio delta 66 and several other bits compressor two preamps synth etc
initially the mixer outs where directly connected to the 24/96's two inputs
after a recent rewire i couldnt figure out why when i treid to record into the right channel on the 24/96 the signal was really weak compared to the left chanel
i searched for days in the back of the patch bays for a weak link in the wiring then it struck me
software routing i took a look in the soundcard software setting and there it was
the two channels were stereo linked once i clicked on it to unlink them it works perfecly as i knew it should
it might seem daft and i certainly feel it but i thought i'd share it with you incase in the future any noobs like me have a similar problem it will sve you from feeling daft too
thanks for reading and i hope i made sense
Check out my tube see what i've been up 2

I know how you feel. My interface has routing software that is rather complex. Every time I need to make changes, I have to stare at it for a while just to wrap my head around how it works again. Then I have to play with it to get it to cooperate.

It's just like a damn woman. Tough to understand.

you guys should try the RME FireFace 800... I'm on day 8 of computer hell.... I have the routing for straight playback worked out (I think)... and I also beleive I also have the routing for initial "live) recording worked so ecveryone gets an independent headphone mix..... just still  not sure if I have the re-tracking/overdubbing worked out

I do have a nit against both Digital producer and RME

RME seems to think everyone will wants paired outputs... so while you can get a mono out thru their 'matrix', on their mixer you have to hard pan the inputs to keep them from 'bleeding' into the other half of the 'paired" outpus

DP lacks athe ability to have a stereo out and a mono out on the same track,...though the workaround is to set-up mono bus send to a mono aux track,  nor can you have a stereo bus send to an aux track with a mono out, (immediately convert outputt to a paired output containing whatever mjono out you were trying to use

or maybe i'm still missing a few things    ::)
