AB switch
(1/1)
kip4:
i know its not unique and i know its not hard but for me its new territory
So here you have it my first pedal a simple passive AB switch for swapping between processors/amp/inputs based on a drawing found here
http://www.beavisaudio.com/projects/ABSwitches/
i purchased the componants at maplin (kinda like radio shack in the uk but dearer)
and soldered the bits and pieces together it works perfectly and represents a right of passage for me as of now i can call myself a pedal maker and consider myself and electronics wizard (im being ironic of course) but on a serious note i want to move on and build a small preamp next and earn my stripes as a circuit builder until the day i can build my own valve amp for guitar (ultimate goal)
there you have it, sounds a bit silly but its a symbolic victory
stainless:
nice! and looks like you have room for another pedal in the same box! and how i love shiny stainless steel looking things ::)
Should you have any noticeable/audible popping/clicking noise when changing switching states, a low value cap from the switch common to each of the contacts will solve this (an .01 mf is common)- the cap eliminates any arcing between the contacts (which is what causes the noise)
this may be more noticeable switching between speaker cabs than on the inputs,
some selectivity is required as (depending on cap value) there may be some frequency roll-off (it's basically a very simple RC network, the resistance being minimal from the wire)

So far so good Stainless but i havent exhausitvely tested it yet so, a cap may be in order. Thanks for the heads up
i love this place im learning all the time .
cheers
