Death metal vocals

Any ideas on mics that are good for DEATH METAL or BLACK METAL?  I hear the Sennheiser 421 is a good all around mic great for Cabs and great for those type of vocals but I am not sure of this.

Welcome!

dynamics typically work much better than condensers with any 'screamo' type of vocals

SM57/58 are always a reliable mic- difference is strictly in the diffuser/pop grill- electronic's wise, they're identical

or Find an old AKG D-1000 - also a dynamic and another workhorse

I would try and get holds of an SM7, but as suggested an SM57/58 with a pop shield and getting in nice and close
will get you 80pct of the way there.
