Audio interface choice??
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:20:31 AM »
Hi, i am currently exploring my choices in regards to an interface and would like some suggestions. The reason i am looking for one is that my onboard sound is causing a crackling noise through my monitors so all i really want my new interface to have is the ability of direct monitoring, i dont really need many inputs as i have a little mixer i use for that.

I have been searching and im not lazy but im baffled by the extensive range of products and varied prices so i was hoping if i told some people with better knowledge of what i want it for and what it need it to do for me i might have better results.

To start things off i was looking at this one

http://www.rocketmusic.co.uk/items/item.aspx?itemid=5359732

It has what i need but i dont really know how to make heads or tales of the specs or if i in fact, can get better for cheaper : )

Sorry for the newbie type question guys but i hope you can help me make the right decision.

Thanks

welcome to HRS!

I'm not familiar with that particular Lexicon model, but I have used Lexicon Omega. Like many interfaces with "built-in" pre-amps, even line level signals are subject to some gain staging, so be aware as this can be a source of frustrating distortion/noise if you're using the re-amps on your mixer for recording through.

but this should do what you want it to do

that oughta work for you!!!

here's hoping there's no surprises when it arrives (I had excellent luck with e-Bay... knock on wood)

I'm sure it'll work as described!!!!

Ive always been very fortunate on ebay but on the times i haven't, i just have a little moan to the seller and suggest a part refund to settle things. You will be amazed at just how much they will offer you back if there feeling guilty  ;)

What i mean by that is if they actually knew they were in the wrong in the first place and had listed it so, not that i just emotional blackmail honest Ebayers lol

Yea but hopefully all is well, I will post back and let you know. Cheers mate
