Have you ever used an RSS feed? You should try it.

This site now offers a very cool feature called RSS feed.

What is an RSS feed?

It is a background utility that we run here at the site. It enables you to receive frequent updates of the most recent posts without having to visit the site repeatedly throughout the day. Many people prefer this method over email notification due to its extended functionality and convenience. Some web browsers support these feeds or you could use a stand-alone feed reader program. These programs automatically fetch updated info from our site every hour. It's almost as good as staying here all day long and watching out for new posts.

Why would you want to use RSS?

It is faster and more convenient than visiting the site over and over. No more waiting for the entire site to load. No more navigating your way in and out of each forum to find new posts. With an RSS feed, all you do is start up your browser or RSS reader program and presto...a list of today's new posts are already there waiting for you to read. Even better, you can click on any post in the list to jump straight to the actual page to make a reply. Now the site practically comes to you.

How it works:

Our site always keeps a text file record of the last 5 posts made in the forum. (It may also include news items.) Every time a new post is made it is amended to the top of that file and the oldest post is removed. Once every hour, your browser or feed reader program fetches that text file and makes it available for your viewing pleasure. You can increase or decrease the fetch frequency if you wish.

How to get it started:

To get it started you must subscribe to a feed. Don't worry; there are no forms to fill out.  Subscribing simply means that you tell your browser or feed reader program which website to start getting live feeds from.

First try it with your browser:
If your browser supports RSS feeds then it will display an icon something like this. You will likely find this icon up in the address bar or on the tool bar. The presence of this icon indicates that an RSS feed is available at the site you are currently viewing. So of course, while visiting our site, click on the RSS icon and then click "Subscribe." That's it! The list will start coming in on its own. Furthermore, if your browser supports Live Bookmarks then it takes the list of new posts and puts them right into your bookmark folder. Then whenever you want to see new posts, you simply point to the bookmark folder and glance through the list without even visiting the site.

If your browser does not support RSS feeds then you can view the list manually by clicking this link.

As a last resort you can always search for a feed reader program. Here is one I really like. You may have to copy and paste the above RSS page address into the reader.

Enjoy.
