Stinky Studio

(1/2) > >>

RawDepth:
I had an old friend in my studio on Friday to record some original songs. His guitar cases, amps, tote bag, and everything he brought reeked strongly of cigarette smoke. He did not smoke in my studio, he went outside, but I could smell the smokey stench on his gear. I assume it was left over from the many bar gigs he has done or else he always smokes in his rehearsal room. Now, two days after he has gone, the place still smells like old stale smoke. (yuk)

He wants to come back for more visits because the session is not yet done. My bottle of Febreze is running low.  !&%$#@ >:(

I feel your pain- I have a couple of friends who are walking ashtrays, and while they're very respectful of the fact that neither my wife or I are smokers, there's still the "residual" which I'm certain they're not even aware of.  One now has the tell-tale smokers cough and they all look years older than their actual age. Having lost mutual friends/loved-ones to lung cancer and/or emphysema, I thought they'd quit, but it's apparently one tough habit to break.

it's an ugly and slow death

I worry about the one with the cough- he just shrugs it off  and says he doesn't believe in western medicine... though healthy choices aren't on his li To-Do list

It is.

I've been smoking for over 30 years now and have made it 3 months, on 3 different occasions without smokes. Just when ya think you've got a handle on it, ya unwittingly screw yourself.

In fact, I've got friends who have never smoked tell me..."Just quit man. You know they're bad for you and the second hand is bad for others so just quit."

"just quit"

pffft.

Pretty easy to say when they have no first hand experience.

fair do's it is the hardest habit to break i've had just about every addiction going since i was 15 (46 now) but. smoking was the hardest to give up.  I gave it a go several times and i nearly made it with patches and gum. evntually i went to a stop smoking clinic and got some drugs to stop the cravings ( which to me was the thing that always made me restart)
once the cravings where under control it was much easier.
months , years after i still wanted a ciggy every day then it went weekly then monthly and now i wouldnt smoke again .
it's been 4 yrs since i quit and the smell of a smoker now disgusts me i find it difficult to put up with
however having said that i am not so hypocritical as to condemn anyone for smoking i just ask that they respect the fact i don't.
how on earth i ever imagined i could go for a crafty ciggy and people wouldnt be able to tell i dont know
it just makes me laugh
good luck to all those giving up .
and peace to the tollerant souls who quitely put up with it

while im getting pissy since i stopped smoking i've put on another 2 stone in wieght and now wish i could give up sugar which may be harder to give than smoking lol
