Wondering best way to mount studio foam
« on: October 04, 2009, 05:41:55 PM »
I acquired a huge box of Auralex 2" wedge foam. It was left over from a professional install so I got them really cheap. There are 13 large sheets 2 ft x 4 ft each. (I needed it because my drum room has a bad flutter echo.)

I have read on other forums that the glue is a bad idea. It apparently doesn't hold that good and only messes up the drywall later on. I considered double sided tape but that probably has the same problem. I may get some of those T shaped straight pins and push them in every few inches.

What do ya think of that idea?

yep, the glue can be a pain if not applied evenly... and if you want to remove it it makes a mess-

for walls I used a stapler (Arrow T-50, etc) with 5/8" long staples

for ceiling, I glued the foam to 1/4" pegboard (it's cheap) and then used long drywall screws into shields (this also allows you to leave an air space behind them)... though it does put holes on the ceiling
