Best Virtual Instruments (plug-ins)
« on: December 28, 2009, 07:52:48 PM »
Here's a loaded question.  Is there a piece of software with "very good" piano, strings and brass or is it better to buy individual pieces of software?

I run Digital Performer on an iMac and use my 1996 Ensoniq MR-76 keyboard.  I'm sure some of the plug-in now are better than the sounds in my keyboard.  I'm not much of a MIDI person but thought it might be the best  way to go.  Let me know any opinions.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm not aware of a single software package, but admittedly i haven't listened to them all-

as far a piano's go... i guess I'm spoiled i own a Rhodes, and an acoustic piano...  and a Hammond... and everything else the yamaha S08 seems to do an OK job on-

I did hear some very convincing string patches - Symphonique (I think)

as to horns, I've yet to hear a convincing patch

but them maybe I'm just too picky...

usually it's apparent where breaths would be, or how the notes tail off
